“David” an 8 year old boy with classic Autism, came to us after being removed from his home by DCF. He was non-verbal, using grunting sounds and pointing or acting out to communicate his thoughts and feelings. He had an intense fear of going outside and making transitions to new places was overwhelming for him. His academic skills were extremely low and he was not getting any real educational services due to the upheaval in his life. HCRS staff immediately began to identify the services he would need to progress and grow. A shared living provider was found who has given him a wonderful family environment to live and grow in. David now goes to school for the whole day. He is using his words more than ever and instead of pulling on someone or grunting or pointing, he is prompted to use requests like “ Can I use the computer, please,” without being told.

Full time position (40.00 hrs/week)is available in the Newfane area.  This position requires skill and experience working with children in a multi-grade environment who have mental health and academic challenges.

 

Kindle Farm School is seeking individuals with the minimum of a bachelor’s degree (flexible if you are a perfect fit only!), preferably in the areas of psychology or education to work as 1:1 and/or Behavioral Interventionist in our day school.  The successful candidate will enjoy working as a team member to ensure a safe and supportive school environment. A Kindle Farm worker can expect to work with students in a variety of active settings, both in and out of the classroom. The Behavioral Interventionist  provides behavioral monitoring and supports to reduce/remove the student's barriers to success in the school setting. Key skills include the ability to establish and maintian a supportive relationship with the student and apply behavioral interventions in a consistent and targeted manner. Successful candidates will be able to collect data and keep progress records, to use data to build and modify behavioral interventions, and to work collaboratively with school personnel and Kindle Farm staff.

Required Skills • Implementation of curriculum under the direction of a teacher or licensed special educator. • Completion of Quarterly Reports, as necessary and in collaboration with Special Education Case Managers or Academic Coordinator. • Participation in the planning and scheduling of afternoon activities. • Participation in and facilitation/supervision of afternoon activities • Transportation of students to and from afternoon activities returning students on time to catch rides home. • Supervision of students during lunch, transitions, and breaks. The number of positions available is unclear at this time, as we are experiencing an increase in our student numbers and have a few different needs to fill. The successful candidate will enjoy working as a team member to ensure a safe and supportive school environment that meets the clinical needs of the students. A Kindle Farm School Based Clinician can expect to work with students in a variety of active settings, both in and out of the office.
