HCRS' 1st Annual Autism Awareness Music Festival Print E-mail
September 17, 2009

HCRS hosted its first annual Autism Awareness Music Festival on August 8, 2009 at the Elk’s Club in Springfield. Autism affects one out of every 116 children born today and does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, social boundaries, or lifestyle. Awareness of this disorder is critical for early identification and intervention for children in our community.

This well attended Music Festival featured performances by the John Sullivan Band, Brendan Thomas, Larry Dougher Band, One Shot Deal, West Side Dregs, Georges Back Pocket, and HCRS’ own TRAP class. In addition to these great bands, there were food and crafts available for sale, and a 50/50 raffle with lots of exciting additional prizes. A raffle was also held for an Autism Quilt which was handmade by HCRS employee, Katibeth Pratt, and her mother, Cindy Aldrich. The lucky winner of this beautiful twin-size quilt turned out to be HCRS’ own, Michael Mitchell.

A great time was had by all at this fun-filled day of great music, food, and prizes. HCRS would like to thank the following individuals, businesses, and organizations who generously supported this event. Without their contributions, this successful fundraiser would not have been possible:
