HCRS will be hosting four free wellness activities as part of Springfield’s 2nd Annual Wellness Week.
On Wednesday, March 27, from 9:00-10:30 am, HCRS Outpatient Clinician II Roger Guest will be offering an Introduction to Mindfulness session. Participants will focus on being fully present and self-aware using meditation and some gentle movement exercises.
On Thursday, March 28, HCRS Health Coach Nancy Schaefer will be offering three classes. Chair Yoga will be offered from 5:15-5:55 pm for those who may find it difficult to exercise on the ground. Non-Traditional Yoga will be offered from 6:00-6:30 pm. This class blends various styles of yoga with the use of hand weights, resistance bands, and gymnastic balls. A class on Quick & Healthy Meals for Busy People will take place from 6:45–7:30 pm. This class will explore quick and healthy enhancements to popular breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus.

The Springfield Wellness Week will include a kick-off event on Monday, March 25, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Great Hall in Springfield. Numerous local organizations will display a variety of wellness resources and Dr. Scott Durgin, Director of Lifestyle Medicine at Springfield Medical Care Systems, will give a keynote presentation on lifestyle medicine.
